Sadie B Mitchell

Mrs. Sadie B. Mitchell was born in Farmville, North Carolina, and raised in Washington, DC. A lifelong learner and devoted servant, she dedicated her life to faith, family, and service. She was a loving wife of 51 years to the late Rufus Mitchell, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a faithful member of Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church.

Sadie served with distinction in the Imperial Court Daughters of Isis, becoming the 44th Imperial Commandress, and was deeply involved in Prince Hall Masonic and community service organizations. Our beloved Sadie entered eternal rest peacefully on January 22, 2026 at the age of 96, surrounded by family and friends. 

She is survived by her loving sons, Pierre and Torez Mitchell; daughters-in-law Justina and Gwenetta Mitchell; nine grandchildren—Lakresha, Dominique, Torrie, Ronald, Rhonda, Torez Jr., Pierre Jr., Rufus, and Michelle; ten great-grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Her life of love, leadership, and service will be cherished always.
